Wow... this is... disappointing...

I've completed a panel with the Mad Hatter in the 2D style and... boy... does he look boooring...

The overall body proportions are OK, the stray jacket turned out well... but he does not look menacing

Probably due to the low detail style or maybe it's the angle or the pose I don't know...

To be honest he reminds me of Elmer Fudd...

The 3D female version didn't look menacing either but then it was not supposed to.

And not to mention it took a lot of time to draw him, I don't mind spending time working on a character but I want to see some good results.

Don't think I'll go through with the 2D-3D hybrid idea to full extend.

I'll stick with the idea of turning all characters that I can in to 3D, at least that way I'll just work once the character.

TLDR

The poor results don't compensate the time spent. I'll go 2D if and only if I loose the character database. And I will focus more on what I've always been somewhat good at, that 3D backgrounds and props.

P.S.

Sorry Gelmintator, but you did gave me a very "interesting" idea for the next chapter ;)

Cheers.

  1. Dude, everything good :-) You are the author, you are in command of the plot!

And the Mad Hatter character looks not so much menacing as grotesque. Only his complexion is strange, something is wrong, in my opinion, he looks as if he has severe pancreatitis.
If we look at the overall design - he’s probably not bad as a Psycho :-)))
